Wade's Bermuda stun Trinidad in World Cup

The former Hereford United player Meshach Wade helped Bermuda secure an amazing 2-1 win over Trinidad & Tobago in the World Cup qualifiers.

Wade, now something of a veteran, rolled back the years and effectively stifled the Soca Warriors attacks.

John Barry Nusum scored a brace in the 8th and 39th minute to win the game after Stern John had equalised midway through the first half.

Wade featured for the entire 90 minutes, and with two vital away goals it looks as though Bermuda could reach the next stage.

Trinidad included a whole host of English based players in their line up including the Walsall goalkeeper Clayton Ince, Swansea City defender Dennis Lawrence and the Sunderland winger Carlos Edwards.

Wade is now expected to keep his place in the Bermuda line-up for the re-match on Sunday, June 22 when the Trinidad squad travel for the return leg.

John Sillett was the Hereford manager who brought Wade to Edgar Street back in 1991, alongside another Bermuda player Kentoine Jennings, but only made 17 first team appearances for United before linking up with Harrisburg Heat in the US.

Do you remember Meshach Wade playing in a Hereford United shirt?

Or have you seen him elsewhere across the globe in the last 15 years or so?

Meshach Wade plays for my local club team here in Bermuda. He is the player/coach of Hamilton Parish “Hot Peppers” where he has just finished the previous season getting the team promoted in his first year. Nigel Burgess, Bermuda Electric Light Company
