'If It's Football, It's Vital'

PREVIEW: Hereford United v Plymouth

Hereford United entertain League One side Plymouth Argyle at Edgar Street on Wednesday in the Bulls final home pre-season friendly ahead of the upcoming npower League Two season.

The Bulls boss Simon Davey is hoping he can further bolster a revamped squad with another summer signing ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, his counterpart Peter Reid wants to sign triallists Tony Capaldi, Freddy Hall and Anton Peterlin after all three players performed well on the Pilgrims' tour of Holland which ended on Friday.

Reid told the Herald; 'All three of them have done well, and I think there are deals to be done if it's in the scope of our budget.

'I know now what the strengths and weaknesses of the squad are, and there will be some changes as we go on to the season.

'But it's hard work in the market, getting people in and out at the moment.

'I think as the season gets nearer, people will get more business done and I'm hoping to do the same.'

Bulls fans will recall Capaldi, 28, as the Northern Ireland international left back joined Hereford on loan from Birmingham City in September 2001, before going on to feature for Plymouth, Cardiff City and Leeds United.

Reids' Argyle troops were back in training today ahead of the Edgar Street clash on Wednesday night, with a full strength squad being lined up to face the Bulls.

Striker Rory Fallon (pictured) will return to action for Argyle against United following a holiday after featuring for New Zealand in the World Cup.

The Hungarian international Krisztian Timar is also expected to perform for the visitors after coming through his first game since January due to a hamstring tear.

Timar, 29, will compete for match action alongside fellow defenders Kari Arnason, Reda Johnson, Bondz N'Gala and Marcel Seip.

Karl Duguid, Carl Fletcher, and Reda Johnson have all picked up slight knocks but are unlikely to be ruled out.

Samba Kanoute continues to train with the Hereford United squad, and unless a deal is thrashed out over the next 48 hours it could be the defenders final chance to impress Bulls boss Simon Davey.

French born Kanoute, who will celebrate his 19th birthday on Friday, was formerly with Auxerre.

Hereford are likely to give every player some pitch time on Wednesday, with the Bulls squad currently undergoing strenuous double training sessions at the City Sports facility.

Away from the game itself, Hereford United's new home shirt will be on sale at Edgar Street ahead of kick-off, with the club reporting excellent sales at the clubs Open Day on Saturday.

With the price having been reduced from last year many Bulls fans have been eager to snap up the smart looking new white and black strip.

Hereford chairman David Keyte hopes to see another plus 1,000 friendly attendance, although travelling Argyle fans are unlikely to bolster the gate to any great extent.

It will be 'Kids for a Quid' at the turnstiles for the Argyle game, with concessions at just £4, and adults £8.

Kick-off at Edgar Street is at 7:45pm.
