Hereford United returned from the Glass World Stadium with a point from this afternoons Southern Premier League match against Histon, and were only denied all three points by the the upright(twice) and a couple of goal line clearances.

Manager Jon Taylor gave a debut to loan defender Delroy Gordon who has joined for an initial month from Nuneaton Borough FC.

Sporting an all white strip the Bulls were put under early pressure, but the new pairing of Gordon with Captain for the day Brad Lee Gascoigne in central defence, showed a resilience that has been sorely lacking.

A 'Stutes' free kick provided the games first opportunity when the resulting ball into the box was cleared straight to top scorer Kuzimski but he blasted the ball high over the bar.

For the Bulls Aliou Traore saw a shot easily saved, and when Eubanks effort was charged down, Gary O'Neill's snap shot was inches wide of the far post. Next it was Sam Akinde getting behind the home rearguard but, again his shot was blocked to safety.

With little more than 20 minutes played O'Neill was upended just outside the box and the hosts breathed a huge sigh of relief as Obi Oneyeike's free kick cannoned off the post.

Histon were struggling to contain the Bulls obviously physically stronger players, however as the half progressed Akintunde brought a couple of good saves from Luke Williams as did Charley Sanders with a crisp shot on the turn.
On the stroke half time a dangerous free kick was whipped into the Bulls area only for the ball to evade the desperate lunges to convert, and went out harmlessly for a goal kick.

Half Time: Histon 0 United 0.

Into the second half and the nippy Traore saw a shot graze the foot of a post before a flurry of substitutes from both managers saw Jon Taylor introduce a more attacking midfield with the addition of Sam Bobes-Gilroy and Bilal Yafai.
The changes brought a greater penetration to the Bulls game and they dominated the remainder of the match.

The Bulls next attack saw Traore float a sweet ball into the path of the advancing Bobes-Gilroy who took one touch before before seeing his goal bound effort blocked at the near post.
Obi Oneyeike's rampaging run to earn a corner when Delroy Gordon's header was scrambled off the line. Another corner produced a further Gordon header from which Bilal Yafai's volley drew a fine fingertip save from the overworked Histon keeper Ordonez.

The Bulls continued to dictate play and another corner was met by Gordon but Gascoigne's snap shot on the volley sailed over the bar.
On 85 minutes the woodwork again rescued the hosts as the elegant Yafai's 20 yarder rebounded off the post.

Three added minutes failed to produce a goal and the game ended all square.

Full Time: Histon 0 United 0.

The addition of Gordon to the back four made a huge difference and brought experience and know how. A much more solid performance saw the Bulls able to push forward with purpose and they deserved to win this game.
With the expectation that another striker will be available for the Paulton Rovers match, the Bulls will look forward to continuing to progress.
