Pacey Bulls stun Cambridge.

Hereford United
2 - 0
Cambridge City

Edgar Street.

11/10/14 3pm.

Attendance: 295.

Herefords young guns reduced the Cambridge City side to chasing shadows for much of this encounter.
With Steve Vetier back in tandem with Javia Roberts operating on the flanks, and Delroy Gordon back in central defence, we saw a similar display to the one that reduced Biggleswade to tatters in the last home win.

Sam Bobes-Gilroy was serving a suspension so Josh Hawker and Josh Oyibo occupied central midfield, with Bilal Yafai operating in a floating role across the front of them.
Serge Mor-Diop returned up front.

The Bulls kicking off towards the Blackfriairs end and were first to threaten when Steve Vetiers corner was headed wide off the far post by Diop.

Cambridge tried to respond but a limp effort from Lewis caused no problems.

Hereford were quickly back onto the attack and a tricky run from Javia Roberts saw a cross that was thumped at the Cambridge goal by Hawker with Reynolds just palming it around the post low to his left.

Next up another Vetier corner was cleared as far as Oyibo who played the ball back in to the box only to see it sail out of play.

Immediately Cambridge forced a corner which Dawkins wasted.

Hereford continued to dominate with Vetier and Roberts interchanging with the equally mobile Yafai.

A Cambridge free kick on the edge of the area was smashed into the defensive wall bouncing out to Vetier who fed to Diop who's cross from the left was headed over by Oyibo.
Daniel O'Reilly then found himself in space but his effort was just wide of the far post.

Cambridge finally threatened when a Martin shot was deflected for a corner which Murray met with a powerful header just clearing the crossbar.

Hereford finally got the goal they deserved when Diop winning the ball 35 yards out turned his marker and getting to the byline cut the ball back across the goalmouth. Reynolds managed to palm the ball away, but straight to Bilal Yafai who drilled home from 15 yards.

Cambridge responded immediately and winning a corner on the right the cross was met by Phillips who from point blank range managed to hit the man on the post with the resulting ricochet being headed over the open goal by Vilcu.

Hereford then had two corners which were dealt with easily before Cambridge again wasted a chance to equalise when Murray shot wide.

HT: Bulls 1 Cambridge 0.

Into the second half and within minutes Diop met Vetiers corner from the right and hammered a headed effort just over the bar.
Another Javia Roberts run ended with a flashing cross which just eluded the onrushing Diop.

Javia Roberts then extended the Bulls lead when Yafai played a neat ball to him which he converted from just outside the penalty area.

Cambridge upped their game and for the first time started to test the Bulls back four.
Murray headed over from a corner on the left, and then Danny Kelly shot from distance high over the bar.

Roberts, Vetier and Yafai linked well setting Roberts through on goal but Reynolds just managed to get a hand to his chipped effort.

Dawkins then had a chance to reduce the deficit but drove his effort wide of the near post.
Vilco tried an overhead effort from the edge of the area which dribbled wide.

Hereford finished strongly with another flashing cross just missing Bilal Yafai, and again Steve Vetier sent Roberts through with Reynolds smothering the ball at his feet.

FT: Bulls 2 Cambridge 0.
